Frequently asked questions
Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) helps children develop the skills they need for daily life. We focus on meaningful activities or "occupations", which for children, this often includes self-care, play, and learning. At Write Sensations, we specialize in supporting children who struggle with fine motor skills—those small, precise movements of the hands and fingers that are essential for tasks like writing, cutting, drawing, and manipulating objects.
Occupational therapy (OT) supports children who are facing challenges in developing the physical, sensory, emotional, and cognitive skills needed to thrive in everyday life. OT can be life-changing for children who:
Struggle with handwriting, fine motor coordination, or using tools like scissors or utensils
Experience sensory processing difficulties (e.g., being overwhelmed by sounds, avoiding textures, or frequently seeking movement)
Have trouble with self-regulation, including managing emotions, attention, or impulsivity
Show delays in gross motor skills such as balance, coordination, and body awareness
Need help with executive functioning—skills like planning, organizing, following routines, and completing multi-step tasks
Have difficulty with self-care tasks such as dressing, feeding, brushing teeth, or toileting
Avoid or have difficulty with social participation, group play, or peer interaction
Have developmental diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorder, or learning disabilities
Need support with visual-motor integration and visual perceptual skills that affect reading, writing, and classroom performance
Are recovering from injury or illness that has affected their ability to participate in daily tasks
OT empowers children to become more confident, independent, and successful in school, at home, and in their community. Services are always individualized and strengths-based, helping each child reach their unique potential.
Write Sensations LLC operates as a cash-based business and does not bill insurance directly. This allows us to provide high-quality, individualized care without the restrictions often imposed by insurance companies. This ensures that your child receives the best care tailored to their needs rather than what an insurance plan dictates.
Write Sensations offers mobile occupational therapy and handwriting instruction, delivering services directly to your child in their natural environments—home, school, or community settings. This mobile model offers several key benefits:
Convenience for busy families – We come to you, saving time and reducing the stress of travel and waiting rooms.
Comfort and familiarity – Children are often more relaxed and responsive when working in familiar environments.
Improved carryover of skills – Practicing skills in real-life settings enhances generalization and long-term success.
Collaborative care – Being on-site allows for stronger communication with parents, teachers, and caregivers.
Flexible scheduling – We offer greater flexibility to fit your family’s routine.
Our mobile approach helps create more meaningful progress by meeting children where they are—literally and developmentally.
A minimum of six intervention sessions is recommended to allow enough time for skill development, practice, and reinforcement. Six sessions allow:
Muscle Memory Development – Regular practice helps skills become more automatic and efficient.
Progress Monitoring – Ongoing adjustments to instruction based on the child’s specific needs and improvements.
Confidence Building – Gradual success over multiple sessions fosters confidence and motivation.
While some children may benefit from additional sessions, six is the minimum needed to see meaningful, lasting progress.
